Translate PDF

Translate a document without breaking it apart: the PDF is translated paragraph by paragraph and typeset again, while fonts, tables, and images remain. Since a translation is rarely the same length as the original, longer text can flow onto the next line. If you need the layout unchanged, for example for forms, choose the second method: each line stays in place, and AI uses more concise wording.

AI-assisted - You review every step before it is applied

With the standard method, your file is uploaded to our server, translated, reformatted, and then deleted. With line replacement, it stays on your device; in both cases, only the text is sent to the AI service.

In three steps: Translate PDF

  1. Select a PDF.
  2. Choose the target language and method.

Frequently asked questions

Does the layout stay intact?

This is the hardest question in translation, and here is the honest answer: a translation is almost never the same length as the original; German, for example, is often one-fifth longer than English. That is why there are two options. With the standard Word-based method, headings, paragraphs, lists, tables, images, fonts, and formatting such as bold or italic remain, but text may flow onto the next line; paragraphs and page breaks may shift. This provides the most reliable translation. With the second method, fixed layout, each line is replaced in place and cannot take up more space: AI receives the number of characters that fit in each line and writes more concisely, using abbreviations and no filler words. Only when that is not enough is the font made slightly smaller; the result shows the number of such lines. This works for forms and tables, but phrasing suffers in continuous text. Keeping the layout unchanged and maintaining full translation quality at the same time is technically impossible. The standard method is not pixel-perfect; longer text flows on, and the page count can change in long documents. For forms where position matters more than text flow, choose “Lines in place”: each line is then replaced in its position, with the font reduced if needed.

Which languages are available?

The standard method supports every language, including Russian, Greek, Arabic, and Chinese. In-place line replacement supports only languages with Latin scripts because it embeds a fixed font.

Do numbers and bank details remain unchanged?

Yes. Amounts, dates, names, IBANs, and reference numbers are explicitly not translated.

Is my file uploaded?

With the standard method, yes: the PDF is converted to Word format on our server, translated, and reformatted as a PDF. The file stays on the server only for this process and is deleted afterward, even if an error occurs. With in-place line replacement, the file stays on your device; only the text lines are sent.

What about scans?

A scan has no extractable text. Apply text recognition first; the tool offers this option and carries over your file.
