Frequently asked questions
What happens to a scan without a text layer?
Text recognition runs automatically on detected scanned pages during conversion. Existing recognized text is reused. The language is detected automatically.
Is my file uploaded?
Yes. Unlike our browser tools, this conversion cannot be done in your browser. The file is transferred securely, processed in its own folder, and deleted immediately afterward-even if the conversion fails. It is not stored in a media library or recorded in a database.
Why does it not work with my scan?
Blurry, poorly aligned, or highly complex scans cannot always be recognized reliably. Use originals that are as legible as possible. If a scanned page cannot be processed, you will receive an error message.
Does the layout stay intact?
Mostly. Paragraphs, headings, tables, and images are retained. With highly complex layouts-multi-column text or nested frames-the result may differ. A PDF describes positions, not a structured document; that structure must be inferred during conversion.
How many pages can I convert?
Up to 120 pages per file. Processing time depends on the layout, images, and required text recognition.
